Create a web directory with the Listify template

As many of you know I have a lot of listable template tutorials and I also keep creating new ones with your suggestions 😉

I have received many messages asking me if I could do Listify template tutorials and here is the first of many that I will do 😉

The Listify template is a template for create a web directory in wordpress. We can make both a business directory and a vacation rental website, the possibilities are immense 😉

Like the listable template has all the directory functionality outside of the template, thanks to the plugin WP Job Manager.

This aspect makes the template very interesting since we do not depend on the template, that is, we can change it and the website will continue to work.

At the other extreme is Vantage, this template has all the functionality within the template itself, so you can't switch templates if you don't want to have a heart attack 😉

Be careful before buying the template

When you see the demo of the template you are seeing the web with a series of payment plugins that do not come standard when you buy the template. This aspect is very important because when we are about to set up the website we can be disappointed when we realize that aspects of the website that we liked in the demo cannot be done without buying those plugins separately.

Get started with Listify setup

To start with the tutorial we are going to assume that you already have WordPress installed on your server. In the premium area of ​​the web you have a complete course on how to do it 😉

The first thing we are going to do is install the template, for this we go to Appearance –> Themes –> Add New –> Upload theme

Once the template is activated, it redirects us to an installer that will tell us what the next step is.

If you accidentally leave the installer you can return at any time, from the side menu where it says "Getting Started"

The first thing it tells us is if we want to install a child template or Child Theme. I recommend that you do so because that way you can update the parent template when updates come out even if you have modified files in the child template.

If you click on "Use a Child Theme" the child template will be generated and activated.

You can check it by going to Appearance –> themes and you will see that the Child Theme is now active.

The next option is "Enable Automatic Updates" and in this option you have to add your license number if you have purchased it. If you have not purchased it, you cannot update the template automatically but updating plugins and templates manually is very simple as I explain in This Video.

Install necessary plugins

For the template to work correctly we have to install a series of plugins:

Install demo content

Now it gives us the possibility to add demo content to the template.

This option is very interesting since we can get an idea of ​​how the web really looks. It is very difficult to get an idea with an empty website 😉

It also gives us several web formats, depending on our business to add that type of demo content.

And once the content has been added we already have a fully assembled website, we would still need to change the demo content for ours.
