Sooner or later we end up needing a calendar with events on our website. And we start looking for which one is good and we realize the infinity of plugins of events and calendars that exist. We begin to wonder if we are right with the one we choose. Here is some light on this topic.
I have seen this selection of the best free event plugins in this article by wpbeginner.
This plugin is from the company Time.ly, the plugin is very complete and allows you to add events very easily. When installing the plugin a new type of content appears when we click on new content, called Event:
When we click on Event, the typical create content screen appears, but with custom event fields:
Among the details of the event we can add date, time, price, link to the ticket sales website and contact information.
There are different calendar templates. The end result would be something like the following:
This plugin has two versions, the free one that you can download from the WordPress repository or the PRO paid version.
In the premium version you have these options that you do not have in the free version:
- Recurring Events
- Weekly view
- photo view
- View on a Map
- location finder
- advanced widgets
- Additional Fields.
When installing this plugin, it also creates a new type of content called Event in which we have a series of custom fields about the event. The fields it asks for are practically the same as in the previous plugin. Here a sample:

It is a plugin with many customization options and many different views to see our events.
You can create your own event templates thanks to the simplified editing of templates:
This plugin analyzes your Google Calendar account and shows the events that appear there:
This plugin allows you to add multiple google calendar feeds.
5.- Booking Calendar
This plugin is a little different from the previous ones, this is an online service reservation calendar:
It is a great resource for rural houses, apartments, equipment rental, meeting planner, event scheduling, patient scheduling or any other service where specific days need to be booked.
